50% OF OUR PERSPECTIVES ARE NOT THE TRUTH!

This statement is maybe the most alarming and shocking statements that I have ever learned! Think of the implications! 50% of what we see, hear, read and think about is NOT THE TRUTH. So, the next thing we might think about is how are my relationships and how does this affect my life both personal and professional?

Perhaps, if I consider this statement before I speak with authority on some subject I/others will change. Will it make me consider some of the changes I might want to address in my life? Will it affect my listening skills and cause me to listen more intently. Would I ask more clarifying questions, do more research, react less/respond more and so on?

If you are still having a difficulty thinking that you might be wrong in your thinking, speaking, judgements and perspectives? Answer these questions honestly.

1.     Have you ever made a judgement based on incomplete or inaccurate data?

2.     Have you ever had a preconceived notion or stereotyped someone?

3.     Does your upbringing or cultural background limit or shape your worldview?

4.     Do you find yourself seeking information that confirms your viewpoint, political association, group or tribe?

5.     Do your past traumas, experiences limit or shift your worldview?

BTW, if you just denied that any of these five affect you, your perceptions are not the truth! One of the issues is we don’t see/realize our personal or cognitive biases; we don’t realize our limited beliefs/information or experiences or our social and cultural conditioning.

It's important to recognize these limitations and actively seek out diverse perspectives to challenge our own thinking and perceptions and broaden our understanding of the world.

One of the things that I love about Hypnosis is that it allows us to see what really happened in the past rather than perceiving something that happened and continue to limit us in the present. We all have a choice to change our perceptions.
