A FEW OF MY FAVORITE THINGS
In my study of the mind and how we can make it work for us, I have discovered some fascinating truths that govern our lives and many of us are unaware. Spend some time with each to see how they might be affecting your life.
· Although your unconscious mind comprises 70% of your of all your mind and body functions, your subconscious beliefs, habits, reactions, values are the software that guides everything.
· Everything can be changed with a disciplined approach to rewiring your brain through your conscious mind at any age.
· Our brain wants to create patterns, our subconscious structures events into patterns.
· 50-70% of personality is developed before age 8.
· 75% of self-esteem is developed before age 8.
· On average our habits take 66 days to change (not 21 days).
· Imaginations for children are up to 2500 times greater than adults – (you can train to reestablish).
· Practice the acronym TIME each morning before digital: Thanksgiving, Inspiration, Mindfulness/Meditation, and Exercise. Try for just 30 days to see a difference.
· Seven types of Rest: Physical, Mental, Sensory, Social, Creative, Emotional, Spiritual.
· Sleep – 7-9 hours of quality sleep, 65 degrees, consistency in time to bed and waking up.
· Take a break - Every 50-120 minutes to maintain productivity - 5-minutes.
· Gratefulness – changes mind/body in 12 weeks.
· Exercise - Move your body – 150-180 minutes per week (40% aerobic, 60% strength).
· Eat well – Nutrition with supplements – cut sugar and anything you can’t pronounce on the label.
· Hydrate – a lot!
· Get help addressing three feelings about yourself: Not enough/worthy, I’m different/defective, I can’t attain/achieve…
Every thought causes a physical reaction and an emotional response within you.
Your mind responds to the pictures you construct and the words you tell yourself.
What is expected tends to be realized.
Forgive yourself and others.
• 4 P’s - Be Positive, Stay in the Present, Make it Personal, Practice it often.
• Remembering Names: Say it, Use it, Ask about it, Visualize it, End with it – the #1 reason you don’t remember is saying “I don’t remember”.
· Making better decisions with my 5R’s: Recognition – being mindful and aware of thoughts. Reflection – observing and examining deeply the cause of your actions. Reframing – considering how you could say or do it differently. Refocusing - your thoughts to a positive perspective. Referencing – remind yourself how far you have come.
