Stress Relief

We all strive to remain calm in today’s upside-down world. But how do you remain calm and confident during the pressure of COVID, civil unrest, and changing business conditions? Plus, the ‘normal’ stressors of life.

The Mayo Clinic reflects that stress symptoms can affect your body, your thoughts, feelings, and your behavior. And they state that 9 of 10 doctor’s visits are stress related! Knowing how to manage it and being able to recognize common stress symptoms allows you to change your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors to manage them in a more effective way and thereby controlling a lot of your stress. Addressing the causes of stress can also change the many disorders and maladaptive behaviors that stem from it.

Stress is the number one subject that I am asked to speak about.

We all have stress! Stress can help you meet daily challenges and can motivate you to reach your goals and accomplish tasks more efficiently. Stress is also a vital warning system, activated by your “always on Guard Duty - Amygdala” portion of your brain. It exists in each of your senses and is your fight-or-flight response. Neuroscience has shown that the three biggest issues around stress are:

  • Lack of Control

  • Lack of Predictability

  • Lack of Progress

So, the next time you are feeling stressed examine each of these issues and ID the stressor, Reflect on it, Reframe it, Refocus on the solution and then Remind yourself of the results you have received.

Prolonged stress or chronic stress is the bad type. It can dominate your thoughts day in and day out. It can also do a number on your body, causing anxiety, tiredness, high blood pressure, depression, etc.

In my talks, I share how to achieve better brain performance, to fight illnesses, to build resiliency, and to avoid stressful situations. Think about being able to manage stress by turning down your emotional response to it in the moment. It will make a world of difference in your life.
